Augmented reality – a new way to see public spaces

Imagine being able to see an historical photographic image of a site or artwork that you are standing in front of now, or see the artist talking about their work, all floating on top of your camera lens. The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam is taking the smartphone capability of  overlaying digital content across real space to create enriched spacial experiences. The user will be able to see otherwise invisible images such as movies or images when they point their camera at real objects or buildings.

Imagine what this could do for public spaces, places and artworks…
